After recently celebrating my 39th birthday, I was on the couch writing thank you notes to friends and family for the gifts I received. My son saw what I was doing and asked, "Are you writing me one too"?
In all honesty, I wasn't planning to write on to him or the other immediate family members. Thank you notes are very important to me and I make sure that I send them often and train my children to do the same. However, it occurred to me that I don't usually give those closest to me that same courtesy.
This morning I filled out handwritten thank you notes for each child and for my husband to let them know that I appreciate the gifts they chose and their thoughtfulness. Already, I feel lighter and more joyful.
In Debi Pearl's book, Created to Be His Helpmeet she states, "Thanksgiving produces JOY". Well, I already feel more joyful having written the notes and I haven't even delivered them yet.
Have you shown gratitude to those you love today?
I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ. 1Cor 1:4
